Overview

If you set up a notification template and notice that the look and feel of the related email or PDF doesn't appear as expected, it's likely because hidden formatting was copied from another program into the template. There are two ways you can fix this, both of which are described below.

Remove All Formatting At Once

If there are spacing and font issues in most of the template, the quickest way to fix this is to remove all formatting using a text program such as Microsoft Notepad.

1. Select Administration from the navigation menu, and then select Templates.

2. On the Templates page, click the Edit Template icon next to the template you want to update.

3. On the Edit Template page, place your cursor in the top left corner of the Email And Letter Body area of the template.

4. Press [Ctrl] + A on your keyboard to select all text in the template, and then [Ctrl] + C to copy it .

5. Open a program like Microsoft Notepad.

6. Place your cursor at the top of Notepad, and then press [Ctrl] + V to paste the copied text into Notepad. Doing this removes all spacing and font formatting from the text.

7. Press [Ctrl] + A on your keyboard to select all text in Notepad, and then press [Ctrl] + C to copy it.

8. Return to the Templates page in Syncta and delete the current text in the Email And Letter Body area.

9. With your cursor still in the top left corner, press [Ctrl] + V to paste the copied text into the template. All text and spaces between paragraphs is now updated to 13 px Open Sans font.

10. Make the desired spacing and font changes to the template as desired.

NOTE: See our article about using style options in the template for detailed information.

11. Click Update Template at the bottom of the page to save your changes.

Remove Formatting From a Sentence or Paragraph

If you want to make minor formatting updates to your template, the quickest way to do this is by using the eraser icon.

1. Select Administration from the navigation menu, and then select Templates.

2. On the Templates page, click the Edit Template icon next to the template you want to update.

3. Select the text that you want to remove formatting from, and then click the eraser icon.

The previous font and formatting styles are removed and replaced with 13 px Open Sans font.

NOTE: Doing this removes font formatting for the entire sentence or paragraph, not part of it. To remove text formatting such as bold, select only that text and click the eraser icon.
